S.C.B Obituary

Funeral Service at Nirmala College of Nursing, Bhadravathi

Sr. Tresa Was born on January 10, 1955, she was the only daughter of her parents Mariam and Joseph. She hails from Vathakad, Ernakulam District, Kerala. She joined the Congregation in 1986 after completing her basic training in Nursing and then serving the sick at Nirmala Hospital, Bhadravathi. Her child-like faith and simplicity was outstanding like her patroness, St. Therese of the Child Jesus.

In 1996 she was diagnosed to have malignant brain tumor, with great patience and resignation, she underwent the ordeal of a brain surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. After her treatment, God gave her a fresh lease of life for 13 years, to the great surprise of her surgeon.

In 2009, the tumor reappeared and she underwent a second brain surgery followed by chemotherapy. She had intense suffering and pain and showed heroic endurance through it all. Her faith and fidelity to God and her duties is worth emulating.

The Lord called this good and faithful servant to Himself at the beginning of a new dawn to enter into Eternity on August 19, 2012 at 12.05 A.M. May her soul rest in peace.

The funeral service was held in the college chapel on August 20, 2012, at 09.00 hours. Rt. Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Shimoga was the main celebrant at the Eucharistic Celebration with nine other priests. The sorrowing relatives of Sr. Tresa from Kerala and Mangalore were present to bid her a fond farewell. Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo were present in large numbers, the Sisters of Nirmala Hospital Community were indeed truly caring and compassionate to Sr. Tresa during her long illness. Sr. Janet D’Souza paid a rich tribute to Sr. Tresa for leaving a rich spiritual legacy of faithfulness and patient endurance in suffering. Sr. Tresa M.O. was laid to rest at New Town, Bhadravathi cemetery near Sr. Francis Saldanha who died in 2003. We trust that our dear Departed will intercede to God on our behalf.
