Tell out my Soul the glories of the Lord...

Silver Jubilee - Mass introduction -May 9th, 2020 (Online Mass)

Dear sisters, today is surely a day of Joy and Thanksgiving for the family of Sisters of St.Charles Borromeo. We have gathered here to remember, to celebrate and to give thanks. Good morning and a pleasant welcome to each one you  to this special thanksgiving Eucharistic meal.

In his apostolic letter Vita Consecrata St.John Paul II accounts, “In every age there have been men and women who, obedient to the Father's call and to the prompting of the Spirit, have chosen the special way of following Christ, and devote themselves to him with an "undivided heart”, leaving everything behind in order to be with HIM and to put themselves in the service of God and humanity.”

Among us today, we have three such exemplary followers of Jesus, Sr.Wilma Rebello, Sr.Gretta Corda and Sr.Juliet Cutinho witnessing to 25 years of their religious profession. Yes dear sisters, 25 years ago, with years of initial formation and discernment, you left everything behind in order to follow Christ and to put yourselves, at the service of God and humanity. Today is all about that YES, as you return to celebrate all that has happened over the last 25 years. On this silver occasion its rightly fitting that you give expression to this inner joy and exult in a chorus,  “Tell out my soul the glories of the Lord”.

A Jubilee is a time for looking back and looking forward. The book of Leviticus depicts the spirit of Jubilee, as an occasion of grateful remembrance of the past events; of rejoicing for the graces received; of recognition of God’s faithfulness. Dear sisters the journey of 25 years is not simply journey through a string of days and years. Rather your journeys have been surrounded and intertwined by the intimacy and a relationship, mystery and secret growth. Your journeys have been fulfilling and demanding, risky and exciting. They have been filled with losses and gains, replete with joys and sorrows and in all these the God who called and consecrated you was always with you, enabling you to live the spirit of your consecration and so sing out the glories of the Lord.

Dear Sr.Wilma, Sr.Greta and Sr.Juliet, joining you in this silver occasion we are filled with the sense of jubilation, joy and gratitude. Congratulations dear sisters for this unique milestone. On this happy occasion we do remember all your dear and near ones and their support and sacrifices along the journey. We pledge our prayerful support as you now stand at the gate of tomorrow facing the future years ahead. We pray may the one who began a good work in you bring to its completion in you. May our Heavenly Mother, our Patron St.Charles Borromeo, beloved Founder Fr.Adrien Bresy and all predecessors intercede for you as you continue to be the ambassadors of God’s compassion.

Dear sisters let us make present in today’s Eucharistic celebration all those who have been a part of our dear sisters’ lives and those lives they have touched, especially the ones in peripheries. As our sisters, gratefully move towards the table of thanksgiving, let us pray for them and the mission ahead. Let’s rise and join in celebration, singing let the trumpet sound and the music play.

A warm welcome to each of you to partake in the glorious, golden jubilee of the Religious Profession of our dear Srs. Lizzy Chavara, Noella Xavier, Martha D’Souza, Gertrude Patchala and Pascaline Joseph. It is a day to rejoice and sing a jubilant song.

The jubilee spirit is heightened with the arrival of the Sisters from far and near and members of your families. We are delighted that your near and dear ones are present for the celebration. We hope that all, who traveled distances for this occasion, sensed our gratitude for the sacrifices, you made to be here with our jubilarians. We also experience a closer bond with Sr. Saroj, our Superior General, her councilors, our sisters from the Provinces of India and the overseas missions, representatives from Belgium, Argentina, Poland, Italy, Tanzania and Mexico.

Dear Srs. Lizzy, Noella, Martha, Gertrude and Pascaline, the golden jubilee invitation card has inserted your photographs in the Five Stars, the symbols are very Biblical and inspirational: In Genesis 1:14, we read that the sun, moon, and stars are for signs, seasons, days, and years. Signs carry a message. Signs give information. So how can the stars actually give information? We read in Psalm 147:4 and Isaiah 40:26 that God Himself named the stars. He determined the number of the stars and calls them each by name. So you too were called by name and have lived worthily all these years in the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo.

Dear Jubilarians, today, you are Celebrating, the Golden Jubilee of God’s Grace and faithfulness. And, when we consider a commitment of fifty years to any unique lifestyle, that milestone is rare, if ever reached. Thank God you have made it with the Lord’s assistance. Today we celebrate you, your vocation, your call, your life of service but above all we celebrate God, His call, His faithfulness, His mercy which has been the anchor of your religious life. God did not see your ability or disability but your availability to fulfill your role for the kingdom of God. We appreciate your commitment and dedication for the past 5o beautiful years of vowed life. Your deep faith has enabled you to live your “yes” in a variety of roles which you fulfilled with dedication and responsibility. You are precious to us and we thank you for your generous service to the society in different places to various people in the mission of the church.

God’s divine power has given you everything you need to live a truly religious life through the knowledge of the one who has called you to share in His glory and goodness. St. Paul tells us – God can do much more in us than we can ask or imagine. We are only asked to be there and ever greater things will be done through us. God has done wonderfully well through you by the zeal of mission that you had and even today you continue to be the hands, feet and heart of Christ in the world.

With hearts filled with gratitude we join you to relive those special moments, hours, days, months and years. On this day we remember your parents. They had generously made the sacrifice of offering you to God’s service. We remember all the members of your family and those dear and near to you.

There is no better way to give thanks to God, than celebrating the Eucharist. Let us enter into this Holy Mass presided by Fr. Frankie Serrao, S.J and pray for our jubilarians and the congregation gathered here.
