St. Charles Convent–Rippon, Waynad

Foundation Day      :  2008

Present Apostolate :  Pastoral care, ‘ASHA DEEPAM’ St.Charles Senior Citizen’s home

A long cherished dream of the congregation of the sisters of St. Charles (Western Province) was realized on 3rd June 2008. The initiative was taken by Provincial Superior Rev. Sr. Damian and her council. The house began with two pioneers Sr. Therese Paul and Sr. Jini Varghese. As the new missions everywhere, this too had a humble beginning in a small village called Rippon in Wayanad. Wayanad is known for tea and coffee estates and for its scenic beauty. The sisters were involved in the pastoral care of the people actively engaging themselves in visiting the families, Sunday Catechism, BCC meetings, Youth ministry, Liturgical coordination, counseling, diocesan activities such as Home mission, KLCA for more than a decade. The sisters were blessed with a new convent building on 26th October 2016. The blessing and inauguration of the convent building filled their hearts with gratitude and joy, having stayed for more than half a decade in the old building. Another mile stone in the history of the convent is the realization an old age home in Rippon. It was actualized on 26th October 2019. ‘Asha Deepam’, is the Charles Senior citizen’s home at Rippon is the new venture of the province.
